How to host an 'Auction of promises'!

Read on to find out how you can hold an 'auction of promises' and raise some money for your upcoming challenge.
Ceri Jones recently held an 'auction of promises' at her work for her upcoming Trek China. Instead of holding a traditional raffle, Ceri deicded it would be a bit more fun to hold an 'auction of promises', and auction a day's worth of work off to the highest bidder!

Ceri organised an email auction, and her co-workers emailed her with their bids. Ceri offered to take a day of leave and do all the filing, data entry and anything else that the highest bidder could think of. She raised £150 with very little preparation done and no money spent beforehand.

  • An auction of promises is a really great way to have a fun afternoon and make some quick money for your trip. you don't have to hold an email auction either. If you are brave enough to hold one in public, you could raise even more money!

  • See if you can convince some good natured co-workers to join in in your auction, they needn't offer a whole day's leave, maybe a half day, or offer to forfeit a few lunch-breaks to do some extra work for others. You'll be surprised how much people will pay to get rid of their filing!

  • An auction like this doesn't always need to be done at work, hold one in conjunction with your next party or fundraising event - you and your friends or family can offer your skills to the highest bidder on any occasion!
