Sue Thomason raises £1900 in her back garden

To raise money for her Amazon Adventure, Sue Thomasin organised a local fundraising gig in her back garden and ended up raising £1900! She organised for 5 bands to play from 3-11pm, and charged a £10 entrance fee.
I organised a licensed bar provided by the local workingmen’s club. They came and set up the bar complete with pumps, and provided bar staff. They were also responsible for the license and contacted police/fire brigade (a condition of having an off-premises bar). They gave us a percentage of the profits made over the bar (about £400).

We sold tickets in advance and on the door for £10, with a two for one offer for teenagers and neighbours.

I advertised locally and on the Glory Days website (one of the bands that performed on the day), and also delivered flyers to a nearby estate.

The bands all donated their time and talent so the only expenses were lighting hire and PA guy. I printed the tickets myself so saved on costs there too.

We raised £200 in the raffle we organised, and prizes were donated or bought new in charity shops.

Take-away deliveries were also made available and the take away shops also gave a small donation.

The music could be heard all over the village where we live and most people commented on how nice it was to sit in the garden and listen. Several people have stopped me in the street to thank me for brightening up a Dreary Bank Holiday Sunday.
