Changes to Gift Aid and your fundraising target

Gift Aid – Help us make your money go further
From 1 May, Gift Aid will count towards your target sponsorship on International NDCS Challenges.  From 1 May you can claim Gift Aid towards your final sponsorship total, that’s an extra 28% for free!  Please note that Gift Aid will not be added to your account until the completion of the challenge and therefore cannot be included as part of your 80% deadline.

So, if your target  is £3,000, you have to pay in your 80% (£2,400) 10 weeks before you go. But, if all of your £2,400 was Giftaidable, we could make a claim for 28%, which is £632, bringing your total straight up to £3,072, you've reached your target!

What is Gift Aid?
At no extra cost to you, Gift Aid enables us to claim an additional 28p from the Government for every £1 donated by UK taxpayers.  This is of huge benefit to you and means the NDCS can raise even more money to help deaf children.

How do I claim Gift Aid?

  • Use Justgiving wherever possible.  This the easiest ways to collect your sponsorship money and gift aid is automatically added to the total.  Visit  www.justgiving.com/charity/ndcs and create an online sponsorship page.

  • If you do receive cash or cheques, make sure your sponsor fills in a sponsorship form, tick the Gift Aid box, and fill in their full name and home address (at least house number, street name and postcode).

  • If they are a relative, a company, a business partner or are not a UK taxpayer you cannot claim gift aid on their donation.

All gift aidable claims must be received by NDCS 1 month after returning from your challenge.

For current NDCS Challengers: important changes to your bank account

To enable us to claim Gift Aid, we will be changing the bank account for your challenge in April.  We will be sending statements out within the next week and in order to help things run smoothly we ask that you check your statement and let us know ASAP if there are any queries.

As we are changing bank accounts we will be issuing you with new paying in slips, but only when you have returned your old ones.  Please return your unused paying in slips by the 27th April 2007.  You must not use your old slips after this date.
