Itinerary
Day 2
Phnom Penh – Sihanoukville
Arrive in Phnom Penh and transfer by bus (3-4 hours) to the hotel for a bike-fitting and evening briefing.
Day 3
On your bikes to Kampot
85km
We start the day by bus, before getting on the bikes and following the coast. We then head inland to the riverside town of Kampot. Participants can enjoy a leisurely wander around the town before dinner.
Day 4
Kampot – Takeo
75km
We leave Kampot and head to Takeo, which is best known for the nearby temple area of Angkor Borei.
Day 5
Takeo – Phnom Penh
76km
Today we depart for the capital, Phnom Penh. En route we stop at the temples of Tonle Bati. We should arrive in Phnom Penh early evening to enjoy dinner by the river.
Day 6
Visit to the Killing Fields of Choeuk Ek
30km cycling, 163km transfer by bus
This morning we will cycle to the Killing Fields of Choeuk Ek, which is a vivid reminder of the atrocities that took place here from 1975-1978. We then return to Phnom Penh to the Tuol Sleng museum, testament to the crimes of the Khmer Rouge. We then depart to Kompong Thom arriving mid afternoon.
Day 7
Kompong – Sophorn
80km
Today’s route is great for cycling, after about 50km we break for lunch at Stung City. In the afternoon we cycle
to Raksmey Sophorn.
Day 8
Raksmey Sophorn – Siem
64km
Today’s cycle is quite short so we can take our time along the road. We arrive in Siem Reap early afternoon leaving the rest of the day to chill out at the hotel or explore.
Day 9
The Temples of Angkor
40km
This morning we visit the spectacular Angkor Temples. We then cycle to the Great City of Angkor Thom, which includes the Bayon, the Terrace of Elephants and Terrace of Leper King. The rest of the afternoon is spent at our leisure exploring this amazing place. We will head for the Angkor Wat, at sunset before dinner at the Ankor Wat Hotel.
Day 10
Back to civilization
Transfer to airport for departure flight.
