Cycle London to Paris

Live Diary

Cycle London to Paris took place on 30 June - 3 July in the scorching heat.

This is a tough but short challenge.

Read the live diary as our NDCS reps let us know how the group managed to battle the soaring temperatures on their bikes.

Friday 30 June

The group left London in glorious sunshine at 7.30am this morning and we've just heard that they have all arrived safe and sound at the ferry terminal in Newhaven, ready to catch their ferry at 5.30pm.

NDCS rep Ruth called in with the following messages

" It's been a fantastic day with beautiful weather. Everyone is doing really well. We're loving the hills but loving the downhills even more. Really looking forward to tomorrow!"

Dougie - A very very enjoyable day so far

Dave - We made it! Top weather, top trip, sore backside

Tim, Chris and Andrew - Team Australia made it - day one!

Monday 3 July 2006

Ruth has just called in with the latest...

We did it ! Everyone's buzzing, it's been an amazing trip. The roads in France are made for cycling and all the group enjoyed the long stretches of open road. There's been lots of support from locals, with children cheering, motorists beeping horns as they go past and we got lots of cheers of "Allez les bleus" as we cycled into Paris, which was fantastic!

The support and the teamwork of group has been amazing and although the weather has been very hot, everyone did really well to keep hydrated and we all made it.

It's been a truly international event with people from all over the world, so congratulations to Team France, Team England, Team Scotland and Team Australia. Also thanks to all the family and friends who were there to meet us at the finish line.

It's been tiring and hard work, but we've been with a great bunch of people and last our celebration meal was well deserved.

Message from Dave - An exhilarating trip with the best people, would do it again, but with a comfier saddle.
