An open challenge
This is an Open Challenge. These challenges are organised directly by
our tour operator and there will be other people raising money for
different charities on the event although we aim to recruit as many
people as possible from NDCS. The tour operator will be looking after
the administration of the event and NDCS will be supporting you with
your fundraising. Your sponsorship money will still be paid directly to
NDCS.
Costs and dates
Event registration fee: £200
Minimum sponsorship: £1400 (of which £679 is tour costs)
80% of sponsorship due: (£1200) 10 weeks before departure (2 APRIL)
100% of sponsorship due: 4 weeks before departure (14 MAY)
Included
Flights to / from Slovenia, accomodation, transfers, full medical support, experienced guides, support staff, water and all meals except lunch on day 5.
Not included
Airport taxes, personal travel insurance, meals not included, optional tours, gratuities and spending money.
Kit
You will need comfortable walking boots with ankle support. A full packing list will be sent to you.
Who can take part?
Anyone over 18 years old is welcome as long as you are fit and healthy enough to do the challenge.
Fitness
This trek is aimed at people of average fitness who are prepared to put in plenty of training to enable them to meet the challenge. Classic Tours will provide a set of training guidelines to help you on your way.
Accommodation
Hotels and mountain huts throughout, of a suitable standard for charity challenge events. Couples should note it is not always possible to share.
Food & Drink
The food will be wholesome, tasty and plentiful. There will be snacks and water available whilst trekking.
Weather
Daytime temperatures will be 18-22°C. It will be a lot cooler at night, about 6°C. Mountain weather is extremely changeable.
Health
Hepatitis A and Tetanus are suggested. Please consult your GP for professional medical advice.
Staying On
It is possible to stay on in Slovenia after the challenge, subject to availability. Full details will be sent out nearer the time.
Visa & Travel Insurance
A visa is not required for British citizens. If you are a non-British citizen please contact Classic Tours for advice. You must be insured to take part - either through a company of your choice or the Classic Tours recommended policy. You will need to provide proof of your insurance 8 weeks prior to the challenge.
Fundraising
Our team at NDCS will do everything they can to help you meet your fundraising target. You will be given a dedicated contact from our Events team to give you fundraising support and to provide you with a few tried and tested fundraising ideas. You will also receive sponsor forms, and can request collection tins, an NDCS t-shirt and lots more to help your fundraising events to go off with a bang!
