Don't just take our word for it, read what some of our runners thought:

It was a wonderful experience. I could not have survived without the support of the crowd. Nothing really prepares you for the last few miles which are an absolute killer! I think that from now on I will stick to trekking!

There were some great moments, like going through Greenwich when the DJ was playing DJ Otzi's "Hey Baby", and all the runners went "Ooh! Aah!" together. Similarly when we went through Deptford the DJ was playing YMCA, and we all did the actions.

It is without doubt an enormous achievement, anyone taking part can feel really proud of themselves. The camaraderie among all the runners was great.

The organisation is absolutely first class, and the day is one to remember
for ever.

The London marathon was one of those once in a lifetime experiences for me.The training in the cold winter mornings and the 3 hour weekend runs helped to ensure my body was prepared for the challenge but my mind was always wondering whether the training I had done was enough.

When the race started it took me 4 minutes to cross the start line, the first 2 or 3 miles were very slow as everyone got used to the pace, then the 3 starting areas converged to create a mass of runners. The next part I remember was at the Cutty Sark, the noise of the supporters as we went round the ship was unbelievable. Crossing London Bridge was the next big moment and I remember seeing a lot of charities giving fantastic support to all. Just after the bridge the race leaders were going the opposite way and I was amazed at their speed.

Next was Canary Wharf, this was seriously hard as my legs started to ache and the dreaded wall started to affect my mind. I remember feeling quite bad and having problems seeing as all the glucose was drained from my system. After a brief stop and lots of sugary drinks, jelly babies and fruit I was on my way again. The last 6 miles were exceptionally hard and the support from everyone by the side of the race was unbelievable. I crossed the line in 3h 57mins and felt awful and elated at the same time.

Awful in terms of what I had just been through and elated with what I had achieved for myself and for NDCS.
