Important information about this trip

|

An Open Challenge

This is an Open Challenge.  These challenges are organised directly by our tour operator and there will be other people raising money for different charities on the event although we aim to recruit as many people as possible from NDCS.  The tour operator will be looking after the administration of the event and NDCS will be supporting you with your fundraising.  Your sponsorship money will still be paid directly to NDCS.

|

Costs and important deadlines of challenge

Event Registration fee: £249
Minimum sponsorship: £2850
(of which £1100 is tour costs)
80% sponsorship (£1760) due on: 10 weeks before challenge
100% of sponsorship due in: 1 month after challenge

|

Included

The tour cost includes all meals (except breakfast on Day 1 and dinner on Day 12), accommodation; support vehicle and all back up with discover adventure leaders.

|

Not included

The tour cost does not include personal insurance or bicycles (we do not recommend cycling on a mountain bike.) It also does not include any snacks, drinks or personal expenses..

|

Equipment

You will be sent a full kit list by the tour operator.

|

Fitness

Anyone with a general level of fitness can take part from 18 to 80+. You will receive a pre challenge fitness program when you register to help make sure you’re in top condition in time for your challenge.

|

Accommodation

Accommodation ranges from small B&Bs to larger hotels. Due to the route we take, some nights are in travel lodges to minimise unnecessary extra mileage. In Scotland we may stay in hostel-style accommodation for one or two nights as there are few options in remote areas.

|

Food

The food will be wholesome, tasty and plentiful. There will be snacks and water available whilst trekking.

|

Weather

8-20°C

The weather in May and September should be generally good, though it can be changeable especially in Scotland, where there is an increased chance of rain and strong winds. The prevailing wind direction will have more of an impact on the cycling difficulty than rain.

Fundraising

Our team at NDCS will do everything they can to help you meet your fundraising target. You will be given a dedicated contact from our events team to give you fundraising support and to provide you with a few tried and tested fundraising ideas. You will also receive sponsor forms, and can request collection tins, an NDCS t-shirt and lots more to help your fundraising events to go off with a bang!
