NDCS Campaigns

By taking part in an NDCS Challenge you will help NDCS campaign to break down the barriers that prevent every deaf child from reaching their potential. We lobby politicians, local authorities and companies on issues ranging from schools to health care.  We need you. Together we can change their lives. Get involved email campaigns@ndcs.org.uk.

The Deaf Friendly Football Campaign
The project is designed to give all deaf children the chance to play football in a safe, supportive and fun environment, either in mainstream football clubs or deaf football clubs.

As part of the campaign NDCS is organising events around the country. The NDCS's first London Deaf Friendly Football Festival took place in association with Arsenal FC and St. John's Deaf FC.  The festival included coaching sessions and mini games for ages 6 to 16 ran by Arsenal in the Community coaches. If you want to find out more information on how your club can sign up to the DFFC Pledge please contact the Football Development Officer, Rob Danson at football@ndcs.org.uk or 07966 341 022 (SMS Only).

Deafness is not a disability, the only thing a deaf child can not do is hear.

Education Campaign
NDCS believes that education is the single most critical service that determines the life chances of most deaf children. Given the right support, there is no reason why a deaf child should not achieve the same at school as a hearing child with similar abilities. Yet too many deaf children are underachieving at school when compared to their hearing peers.

In 2008 NDCS will campaign to close the gap between deaf children and hearing peers. Visit the NDCS website to read more about NDCS campaigns, and to follow the progress of the Deaf Friendly Football project..
