Cycling testimonials

I took the training seriously and for 6 months prior to the ride, I was always on the bike as well as bi-weekly visits to the gym. I am a gardener by trade, so I hade a base stamina before I started, but all the extra training paid off and, although the ride was very hard, and at times a real mental struggle, I found it very exhilarating.

I met a wonderful group of people on the ride, from all ages, shapes/sizes and we all mingled with each other. I hadn't laughed so continuously for a very long time.

Costa Rica was beautiful, the flora and fauna looked amazing and I came back with a new and refreshed outlook on life: a real sense of great self-achievement and fulfillment.

I'd recommend this sort of "challenge" to anyone. I have made firm friends and learnt a lot about the problems of deaf people. I pushed myself to limits I didn't even know I had.

My first trip was Cycle India 2000. I went on it to give me an incentive to get fit and for the personal challenge during a year off work. I expected it to be like doing a marathon: tough, fun and something I would never do again. But I had such an incredible experience that I became addicted and have done two more cycles since (Laos 2001 and Costa Rica 2003).

Every trip has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience, unique in its own way but each providing the same mix of adrenalin, enjoyment, camaraderie and challenge.

It's an incredible way to see a country , away from the tourist trail, seeing how the locals really live. The bonding with fellow cyclists is a highlight and truly makes friendships and shared memories that last for years. In the 3 trips I have done, I have discovered sceneries and enjoyed experiences I could barely have imagined before my first cycle. And knowing as well that my efforts are helping children to overcome a physical challenge, far harder than the toughest cycle, is the ultimate satisfaction. I would recommend to anyone.
